Jodhi Meares/Packer Wedding Party Dress 1999
Fashion Label Bare had been commissioned by Jodhi Meares to create her wedding Party dress. The dress they designed was made of White crinkle chiffon and was then embroidered by Fullerton Designs, with exquisite cut out embroidery and satin stitched edging.
The beading brief was to be heavier at the hem and around the neckline and then get lighter as it moved up into the body of the dress.
The Party dress arrived at Karen Torrisi Beading Services, completed. Time was at a premium so I led a team of 7 experienced hand bead embroiderers who worked together on the project to make the deadline. It was a sight to behold, a sea of industrious hands, each pair working quickly and delicately to complete a section of beading.
Beaded in tiny glass and metallic seed beads in colours of clear, milky white, satin and silver, each little seed bead was sewn on meticulously by hand onto what felt, at times, like air.
In October 1999, Jodhi Meares was married to Media mogul James Packer
