Craft Punk at the Power House Museum

The craft punk weekend was a fab way to have a go at many of the making skills that our grandmothers used on a daily basis. Making things gives you the most wonderful feeling, a feeling that buying things just simply does not give you. And it does not matter what you make either, whether it is something practical or something decorative, a gift or something for your self the feeling of accomplishement is fantastic. You can use old things and upcycle them into something new or re invent pieces using found objects.

My Beading class assembled in a large room on the 2nd floor of the Power house Museum to learn beading techniques as a part of the Craft Punk Weekend. These skills would enable them to creat their own unique magic little pieces. They learned how to stitch on beads, distress fabric and compose a group of beads into a visually pleasing piece. It was a fun day a chance to learn a new skill or polish up on the skills you already had. A day for some me time and to satisfy that urge to make. It was fabulous to see so many smiling happy faces.
